OPOR Hub and Resources
The implementation of new processes and clinical systems will have an enormous impact, affecting the everyday work of approximately 40,000 staff and healthcare providers across Nova Scotia. This monumental work is changing healthcare delivery for Nova Scotians.
Preparing for new clinical practices and technology is a significant undertaking. Specialized teams are in place to support providers, clinicians, and staff before, during, and after implementation. These teams are working hard to support you through this large-scale clinical transformation.
The OPOR Program team will ensure physicians, clinicians, and healthcare staff receive all necessary training that needs to be completed before their facility implements OPOR and systems. The training aligns with each zone’s implementation date.
We recognize there is a lot of information to support this project. The OPOR Hub has been created and curated to meet your needs. It is the primary source of information for you. You must use your IWK Health or Nova Scotia Health login information to access this SharePoint site.
The OPOR Hub is your best resource for:
- Program information
- Important dates
- Education and training resources
- Videos
- Q&A portal
- Ways to get involved
- Transition team resources
Here’s how you will be supported
The OPOR Education & Learning team has designed a user-centered training program leveraging a variety of modalities that will enable learners to develop both competency and confidence in their ability to use the new system.
Education and learning will be provided in a ‘Just in Time’ model aligned with your implementation wave date. This ensures that you access training at the optimal time to maximize your learning, practice time, and overall success.
Both online and in-person learning components will guide you through using the new CIS and Novari systems. Our approach involves supporting learners to use the system to do their job and not necessarily learn every aspect of the entire system.
We will also be providing access to a practice environment where you can enhance your knowledge and skills, as well as dress rehearsals to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible before going live. Additionally, user manuals, tip sheets, and workflow resources will be provided.
The insight, effort, and energy of your managers are critical to the success of implementation. People Leaders at IWK Health and Nova Scotia Health will be supported in their roles through the provision of all the tools and resources they need to support their teams. In this way, physicians, clinicians, and healthcare staff will be supported in getting comfortable with using the CIS in their everyday work routines.
One of the key elements in the success of the OPOR Program is the degree of involvement and participation by all IWK Health and Nova Scotia Health providers, clinicians, and employees. OPOR will lean on the enthusiastic participation of the experts that are currently delivering care to Nova Scotians.
