Modernizing Devices & IT Infrastructure
This team is nearing the end of the discovery phase of device modernization. Information has been gathered from surveys, group meetings, conversations with clinical providers, OPOR leaders, and other jurisdictions with experience with CIS products. The next phase involves lab testing a variety of devices to narrow down preferred devices for staff user testing. Lab staff will then test several preferred tablets and laptops and provide feedback.
The front running devices will be set up in a mock patient room. Clinical groups will run through workflows with the new tablets, the Workstation on Wheels (WOW), and in-room mounted devices. Feedback gleaned here will steer decisions on which devices will be deployed in different departments within each facility. Feedback will not be the sole weight in determining selections, as consideration will also be given to available space and other location specific factors. Due to varying environments, there will not be a blanket approach to device types for a whole building, department, or facility.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Teams are advancing the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy, and the technology implementation required to enable clinicians to use a device of their choosing when interacting with OPOR.
IT Network Infrastructure
This team will determine wireless and wired networking requirements for deployment and usage of the new CIS software and related devices within hospital facilities.
